Technical Manager (Production)

Overall Purpose of the Role

The Production Manager oversees the entire production lifecycle—planning, execution, manpower, quality, machines, and timely delivery. They ensure smooth coordination between printing, sublimation, laser engraving, lamination, acrylic fabrication, and finishing teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Workflow Management

  • Create daily/weekly/monthly production schedules based on orders and delivery deadlines.

  • Allocate work to technicians across laser, printing, sublimation, lamination, and fabrication sections.

  • Prioritize urgent and bulk orders to maintain on-time delivery.

  • Coordinate with Sales team to understand order requirements, branding details, and timelines.

 

2. Team Leadership & Manpower Management

  • Lead a team of Production Technicians, Operators, and Assistants.

  • Assign tasks based on skills such as laser machines, Smart Carve, EZCAD, sublimation, lamination, or acrylic work.

  • Train and upskill the team on new machines, safety, and quality procedures.

  • Monitor staff productivity and maintain discipline on the shop floor.

 

3. Quality Control & Standardization

  • Implement and enforce quality checks for printing, engraving, cutting, lamination, and finishing.

  • Inspect sample outputs before starting full production.

  • Reduce rejection and rework through proper SOPs and guidelines.

  • Ensure color accuracy, engraving precision, lamination quality, and proper finishing standards.

 

4. Machine & Equipment Management

  • Oversee performance and maintenance of:

    • Laser machines (Han’s Vuzming, metal marker, CO₂/Fiber lasers)

    • Smart Carve, PhotoGrav, EZCAD-based systems

    • Sublimation printers & heat presses

    • Laminator XL-12

    • Acrylic heat bending machines

  • Schedule preventive maintenance to avoid downtime.

  • Troubleshoot machine errors and coordinate with service engineers if needed.

 

5. Material & Inventory Management

  • Monitor stock of raw materials: inks, films, acrylic sheets, laminates, powders, packaging, consumables.

  • Predict requirements based on order volume and prevent shortages.

  • Coordinate with Procurement for timely replenishment.

 

6. Coordination Across Departments

  • Work closely with:

    • Design Team for artwork, file formats, and print-ready files

    • Sales Team for order clarity, branding instructions, deadlines

    • Logistics Team for dispatch planning

  • Communicate production status updates to management and sales teams.

 

7. Process Improvement & Efficiency

  • Identify production bottlenecks and implement solutions.

  • Reduce wastage of materials and time.

  • Implement SOPs for laser engraving, printing, lamination, and heat bending.

  • Upgrade processes with new tools, automation, or layout improvements.

 

8. Safety & Compliance

  • Implement safety protocols for laser operations, heat pressing, lamination, and chemical use.

  • Ensure team follows PPE and machine safety guidelines.

  • Maintain clean and organized production floors.

 

9. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare daily/weekly production reports.

  • Track KPIs: productivity, machine uptime, order fulfillment, wastage, and rejection percentage.

  • Document machine performance and maintenance logs.

 

10. Cost Control & Budget Management

  • Optimize labor, material, and machine usage to reduce production costs.

  • Minimize rework and scrap through quality checks.

  • Assist in budgeting for new machines and tools.

  • Machine uptime & maintenance compliance

  • Team productivity & output accuracy

  • Customer complaint rate (quality-related)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Attention to detail and quality

  • Hand-eye coordination

  • Basic computer knowledge (file handling, machine interface is a plus)

  • Teamwork and willingness to learn

  • Time management and discipline

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Minimum 5–10 years in manufacturing/printing/laser engraving/sublimation production.

  • Strong technical understanding of machines like laser engravers, printers, heat presses, laminators, etc.

  • Experience leading production teams.

  • Knowledge of artwork formats, file preparation, and QC standards.
